Donna Auston: African-American Women and Islam

Rutgers University graduate Donna Auston closes out the Fish, Grits & Couscous podcast series in fine form with a focus on Islam and the African-American Muslim experience. Most discussions on Islam and Women (especially Black women) rarely feature the subjects themselves speaking on their own historical present experience. Ms. Auston presents a cogent and well documented talk on the role of Black women in the American Islamic experience from not merely the social but spiritual point of view. She also highlights little known facts regarding women in Islam in general. A must listen! Produced by the Africana Studies Department at Rutgers University.
